I’m not sure how Popeye, a stroke survivor (check his face) and aficionado of spinach, a food that I’m pretty sure I’m allergic to, has managed to emblazen his name on a chainstore that sells chicken. However, he has managed to weasel his way onto a product that will blow you down. It sure is tasty! While Popeye’s chicken will not grant you the temporary ability of super strenth, the kind to thwart Bluto as he tries to kidnap and rape your girlfriend, it will grant you temporary fullness and satisfaction for a low price. Best of all, one has opened up here in Pittsburgh, right in the Southside. I haven’t been able to make it out to this local one due to a severe leg injury with a wheat thresher, but if any of your people out there in internet land has, please share you’re experience. I’ll gladly pay you tomorrow for some chicken today.

Published by February 13th, 2008 in Pittsburgh, radio, morning, entertainment and radio show. 7 Comments
I have been listening to Mikey and Big Bob’s morning freak show for about 5 years. You may have seen billboards around Pittsburgh for their show. It’s simply hilarious. They are not serious about anything and they don’t talk about boring things like politics or the news. They are more into making fun of celebrities and singing silly songs.
They also give traffic updates and tib-bits like “you should probably pre-heat your car today”. They also have Jorge the Equidorian movie reviewer who is simply hilarious.
They also have a freak show cam where you can watch Bob engaging in daily life via your computer. Kinda creepy, but cool.
Also, they give out alot of free tix and other fun stuff, and they also travel into the community for fun events. They do a Stuff-a-bus every December which is a Toys for Tots Drive where they live in a bus for a week collecting toys. awesome.
They never fail to make me laugh and put me in a good mood for my day! You should check out their show sometime, its really great way to have a light-atmosphered morning commute!
96.1 Kiss is an FM Clear Channel Station and I think they’re on til 10am.

It’s days like today that make we want to MOVE.
There were cars in ditches all over the roads this morning. Tonight is supposed to be freezing rain. Weather in Pittsburgh sucks ass. As I’m typing, I looked out the window and it’s still coming down. Each snowflake is like a middle finger.
In other news,

I just picked up this book and it’s hilarious. It’s supposedly true life stories about this guy Tucker Max. Most of the stories involve drinking or sex, and it’s pretty funny stuff. I recomend picking it up.

Recently, on a Saturday shopping trip to the Southside of Pittsburgh, Slacker on Carson caught my eye and I just had to go in. In addition to the funky magazines, many incense, body jewelry, and um didlos, you can find an assortment of fun clothes and accessories. I picked myself up a funky gold yakpak that depicts razor blades (matt had to tell me what they were). Its a really rad store. i recommend you go there and check out their stuff. you’ve got nothing to lose, they dont even charge tax!!! it doesn’t get much better than that!

Circular Skating Fight Demons
Published by January 23rd, 2008 in Pittsburgh, culture, Community and Advertising. 2 Comments
My pal Sean invited me to join him this weekend to go see a roller derby game. I’ve heard about Pittsburgh Roller Derby a few times in the past, but never actually knew anything about it, so I did some research.
Actually, my friend Amber sent me a link to their site.
http://www.steelcityderbydemons.com
The first thing I noticed when I went to the site was that it was all female skaters, which is kinda cool. They look really tough. Some of them look cute, but most likely would beat the tar out of me.
Turns out, Pittsburgh has 4 teams that play against eachother, as well as a traveling team which…. well.. travels.
The site has allot of info about this crazy ordeal, as well as a gallery of bruises and broken bones which is kind of gross. Tickets to the games are more than I expected. Not that $10 before, and $15 at the door is high, but I expected it to be less. I’ll keep you updated if I end up going to the game this weekend.
Halloween Party at the Creative Treehouse
Published by November 2nd, 2007 in Art, Pittsburgh, culture, street art, Community, Advertising, Design, gallery, Bellevue, Creative Treehouse and Photography. 1 CommentTomorrow night at 7:00 PM is yet another amazing event at the Creative Treehouse in Bellevue. The Halloween Party.
There will be artists (including me, and my new work “Husky McNuggula”), 3 bands (including my band “Doughnuts in November”), and a pumkin carving contest.
Also, you can get in cheaper if you dress up… being a Halloween show at all.
B.Y.O.B. is in full effect which means with every sip the music sounds better, the art looks cooler, and I become more handsome.

BIGFOOT!!!!! Wow!
Published by November 1st, 2007 in Fun, Pittsburgh, culture and Country. 2 CommentsRick Jacobs was spending some quality time in the woods with his camera hoping to get some hot voyuer shots of deer gettin’ in on, when he stumbled upon something almost as good.
This pic was taken 115 Miles north of Pittsburgh…and in my personal opion, this is without a shadow of a doubt BIGFOOT.
Alot of people are saying that it’s just a “bear” with “mange” but I know different. It appears to me that Bigfoot seems to be a health enthusiast. From the looks of the photo, I’m getting the impression that he’s stretching his calves out before a nice jog.
Maybe he dropped his keys or something.. Maybe… just maybe he’s digging a hole to hide some buried treasure. No one has any records of Bigfoot… maybe he’s a modern day pirate.
The point is, that definately isn’t a bear.

Celebrate Devil’s Night and Live the 7 Deadly Sins @ Peter’s Pub
Published by October 17th, 2007 in Art, Fun, Pittsburgh and Advertising. 1 CommentTo get in the celebratory mode, I decided to try crafty invites for the Halloween party. I found a book at work called The Best Seasonal Promotions by Poppy Evans. On page 44 there is an idea for Halloween Mask invitations. I painted the above Devil Mask from the picture in the book, and then the instructions say to punch holes on both sides, inserting ribbon and attaching a notecard with the event details. I painted the picture, took it to FedEx Kinko’s, copied it to a CD, and posted it here at echoflip.com. I don’t know if the all the fancy details will accompany my project, but it’s a start and a fun idea I wanted to share.
Plus, I’m getting jealous watching Matt and other artists be crafty all the time…
