Aqua Teen Hunger Force, Season Five

I recently recieved the fifth season of my favorite TV show on DVD as a gift. Although this season is good / funny overall, you can tell that these episodes were made during the production of the movie. Two episodes are based on the feature film itself, and a couple of the others seem rushed, and not as well planned out as past seasons.

Still, the good outweighs the not so good. Highlights include meatwad’s dog that constantly rapes their neighbor Carl, Shake’s son, and an entire episode that promotes Boost Mobile.

The DVD’s themselves are pretty good. All the menus are sung and the special features are funny. There is a music video, deleted scenes, and allot of stuff dealing with the movie. The only special feature I didn’t like was called “Learn to Shred Like the Master” which is just two minutes of some dude playing guitar.

Also, the DVD comes with stickers, which is an A+ on my book. You should go out and pick this DVD up as fast as possible. But, if you don’t own the earlier seasons (especially three), I recommend going and getting them first.

Ford At Fox

Lets get right down to this. Besides the fact that Guiness might be the best drink ever invented, I want to tell you about the best DVD release of the year. If you haven’t purchased the new box set of John Ford, I’m sorry but you are missing out on 25 of the greatest films released this decade. During the early part of December I took off 3 days of work in expectation of its arrival and its lived up to my every expectation. 25 films of one of the greatest directors of the past decade, including two old school silent film programs, and a deluxe book of photo’s from the films. After heaving the eight pound box set into the house and absorbing it all, I’m 12 films into the set and I feel as if I’ve conquered the free world. Check out this picture if you don’t believe the power and glory that exists within the set.

This will by far be voted the release of the year, and granted its $300 dollar price tag is quite steep I’m sure you can find ways to get it to the $99 dollar price tag I payed, but if your interested in films devoted to “americana” this one is for you… and if you curious about a certain film I can gladly supply it.

In other news, The Bourne Trilogy could very well be the best trilogy release of films of all time, its tight, fulfilling and full of action. I’m glad they went against the story of the second and third books as they are actually very inconsistent and bad. For the first time ever I actually think I prefer the movie to the books. Matt Damon being my favorite actor of these times might help in my belief. The Talented Mr. Ripley is a savagely good film.
