in freedom and hippies.
I must’ve cried at least four times during this movie. It made me wanna be a “tramp” and leave modern luxury and civilization and run away to nature. I’ve always wanted to take a trip across country and just be free and happy. How fun would that be :0
Ultimate Freedom!! I think our culture is too caught up in money, materialism, and greed; all these things shield the free essentials of life that really matter and really make us happy. Money doesn’t buy life-long love or happiness. Whens the last time you took a minute to stop and listen to nature, stare at the sky, enjoy every breath, and just take it all in?
With that said, I definitely recommend this movie. Go rent it!

Aka A Day to Remember or ADTR.
Their recent album, “For those who have heart,” is pretty damn decent. ive been listening to it all day while doing my work. but i have one bone to pick with this album. for those who havent listened to them, they are kinda hard-core mixed with singing songs that sound alot like story of the year. however, they scream…sometimes…and it just totally takes away from their amazing instrumental sounds. i wish hard core didn’t involve screaming, bc im sure then that i would like it alot more, especially because those singers do have good voices, except when they start talking “demon talk”

in Politics, america, government, health care, money and election.

Last night, I watched a very interesting documentary about health care in America. This movie is called Sicko and it was produced by Michael Moore. All I have to say is WOW, everyone needs to see this movie whether you have health care or not.
In the movie, Michael Moore interviews different people who have either been denied medical care because they were uninsured or because their health insurance didn’t want to pay the money. At some points in this movie, I was almost in tears because it was just so sad to see people be denied cancer treatment or necessary surgeries because they couldnt pay for it or their insurance felt the treatments were “experimental” or”medically unnecessary”.
I learned alot about the American health care system and how corrupt it is. its run by the government, HMO’s were approved by Nixon and President Bush gets paid off by the drug companies so they can charge whatever they want for medications. The system is so bad that almost 50 million people are unsured. I cannot believe that this country would deny help to anyone who needs it. they even deny care to people who served during 9/11.
Either health care needs to be universal like in canada and france or the health care workers needs to come together and either have a strike against the health care businesses or the new president needs to come up w a new plan for REAL change, unlike G. W. Bush. This leads me to another reason why you need to watch the movie. They talk alot about Hillary Clinton and how she wanted to univeraslize health care when she was first lady. thats fine and dandy, but they also explain that she was another one of the gov’t figures who was PAID off by the health care system not to have it changed. That is something to think about since the elections are coming up… Obama anyone?
The movie explains that univeral health care really does work, they go to france and canada and talk to people who use the health care system. they get timely and effective health care; infact, the american health care sytem scares them, most of them are alfraid to come here in fear that they will get injured and be denied care while here.
Watch this movie! Also, if you have any health care stories about being denied and you would like to share, post em or email em to me!

in Pittsburgh, radio, morning, entertainment and radio show.

I have been listening to Mikey and Big Bob’s morning freak show for about 5 years. You may have seen billboards around Pittsburgh for their show. It’s simply hilarious. They are not serious about anything and they don’t talk about boring things like politics or the news. They are more into making fun of celebrities and singing silly songs.
They also give traffic updates and tib-bits like “you should probably pre-heat your car today”. They also have Jorge the Equidorian movie reviewer who is simply hilarious.
They also have a freak show cam where you can watch Bob engaging in daily life via your computer. Kinda creepy, but cool.
Also, they give out alot of free tix and other fun stuff, and they also travel into the community for fun events. They do a Stuff-a-bus every December which is a Toys for Tots Drive where they live in a bus for a week collecting toys. awesome.
They never fail to make me laugh and put me in a good mood for my day! You should check out their show sometime, its really great way to have a light-atmosphered morning commute!
96.1 Kiss is an FM Clear Channel Station and I think they’re on til 10am.

in Fun, Pittsburgh, shopping and weekend.
Recently, on a Saturday shopping trip to the Southside of Pittsburgh, Slacker on Carson caught my eye and I just had to go in. In addition to the funky magazines, many incense, body jewelry, and um didlos, you can find an assortment of fun clothes and accessories. I picked myself up a funky gold yakpak that depicts razor blades (matt had to tell me what they were). Its a really rad store. i recommend you go there and check out their stuff. you’ve got nothing to lose, they dont even charge tax!!! it doesn’t get much better than that!

in food, recipes, mexican and dinner.

Here is a recipe for my favorite chili. I literally make a big pot of it every week, I just cant get enough. its easy and inexpensive to make and it will keep the men coming back for more! It’s HOT, literally!!
Ingreds:
One 28 oz can diced tomatoes
One 15 oz can black beans
One 15 oz can light kidney beans
One 15 oz can of chili beans
One packet of chili mix (McCormick or other)
1.0-1.22 lbs of ground turkey meat
Steps:
1.) Brown the meat in a skillet.
2.) Add the chili season packet and stir.
3.) Transfer the meat to a chili cooking pot.
4.) Add the diced tomatoes, 3 cans of beans and stir. Add entire contents of each can, water and all!
5.) Turn the heat up to about medium-high, you want to simmer this for about 15 min.
6.) After the liquid cooked down a bit, removed from heat.
7.) Let cool, add some grated cheese and tortilla chips if desired, serve, and enjoy!

in advice.
Today I went to WalMart for some 3 ring binders and some water. I have my issues with Wal Mart, but after what happened today, I will probably never go back. After arriving and getting a cart, I headed for the office supplies section. There, I picked up a couple binders. After pushing the car back towards the water area, I realized that I had picked a lemon. The car rocked, shook, and vibrated as I pushed it along, I just couldn’t get it to go straight. So, by the time i reached the water, I had given up on the cart and decided to carry my items and just forget about getting water. I grabbed my stuff and turned the corner towards the front of the store. I got about 30 seconds into my journey when I realized that I had left my small wristlet purse and keys in the front part of the buggy. My heart sank and began racing as I turned around and started jogging back to the water isle. When I arrived, I saw my cart and a man standing next to it eying up my purse about to snatch it. I quickly ran up to him and grabbed my stuff just as he was about to grab it. I quickly gave him a dirty look and ran off. I was petrified because at this point I realized that this man must have been following me around for him to get to my wallet in less than a minute after I had walked away from it. I quickly dropped my things and scurried out of the store and as far away from WalMart as I could get…Moral of the story, you just can’t trust people. You gotta watch your back at all times, and NEVER EVER lay a wallet/purse/keys down in a store or let them out of your sight!
