Extreme Pumpkins
Published by October 30th, 2007 in Uncategorized, Art, Fun, culture, Advertising, Design and Photography. 0 Comments
http://www.extremepumpkins.com is a site with well… photos of extreme pumpkins. It’s also a site that teaches you how to carve and decorate your own work of pumpkin art. It’s a great learning tool and since this is pretty much the only week of the entire year this site is useful, check it out while it’s hot.
The owner of the site has recently released a book and from what I read, it seems like it’s doing pretty well. He has appeared on some talk shows and such promoting it. I guess he know’s what he’s talking about.
Anyways, check out the site, if anything for some crazy skilled carver’s photos.

Super Sexy Halloween Photoshoot
Published by October 29th, 2007 in Uncategorized, Fun, culture, Advertising and Violence. 0 CommentsYesterday I went to my friend Jon’s house to take place in a sexy Halloween photoshoot. Jon is an independant film-maker and photographer. The shoot involved me as the killer clown =O) and KP, who was tied to a chair and gettin’ some killin’ done to her.
I’m not a big fan of gore or violence at all, so this really wasn’t my bag, but it was still fun to wear all that crazy makeup stuff and goof off for a bit. KP had it alot worse than I did, being tied up and having fake blood all over her. Jon took alot of shots involving a butcher knife, a scythe, and a hook on a handle, all dangerously close to KP.
All in all, it was a cool time, and Jon paid us handsomely with a delicious pasta dish. My belly grew full with our earnings!

Friday Shenanigans
Published by October 26th, 2007 in Art, Fun, culture, street art, Advertising, Video Games, Design and Artist. 2 CommentsWell, it’s Friday once again. That means I’ll write about all the stuff I thought about over the week, but couldn’t flesh out into a full blog post, or ”Blost” as I call them.

One of my favorite artists, Buff Monster has a brand new website with actual content. This is alot better than the old site, which was just a girl’s boob. www.buffmonster.com
Dui Checkpoints - If you’re like me, a citizen of Pittsburgh, then you best watch your step all this weekend. The police decided to commemorate the one year anniversity of a police officer’s death by a D.U.I. Driver. There’s going to be checkpoints EVERYWHERE.
Wreck - On Tuesday night I’m driving my brand new car home, which I haven’t even had for 60 days yet, when some teenage kid thought it would be loads of fun to slam into the back of me. Awesome
AddictingGames.com - This site is a great way to waste days at a time. They have so many games of all different kinds of genres. Although they’re not as INTENSE as the flash games I’ve made in the past, they’re still a hoot. My favorite is called “Pac X Con” which is kind of like the old game JezzBall. If you don’t know what that is, you better get hip quick FOR REAL.
Painting Sold - Alot of people are deciding they want to be awesome for the first time in their life and visit my art website, mattgondek.com. Two people even took the plunge into a lifetime of amazingness and purchased paintings off me. Don’t you want to be held with such high regard too?
You can find me in the Burgh…

Published by October 25th, 2007 in culture, lifestyle, zombies, Redneck, PS3, Video Games, Design and X Box. 2 CommentsResident Evil is awesome. When the 2nd one came out, it was the reason I bought a playstation. I really don’t play /like/ or follow alot of games, but series still has me excited.
That’s why when I downloaded the trailer for the new Resident Evil 5 game coming out soon, I was crazy pumped. It takes place in Africa and looks freaking incredible. I can’t even describe how fun this game looks.
The entire time I was watching the trailer I didn’t even think once to myself “Wait… all the enemies he’s shooting are black”.
I didn’t even realize it was such a problem until today when I jumped on the internet and started just poking around for additional info for the game (nerd), when I stumbled upon all this racist B.S.
Alot of people are real upset that the new game takes place in Africa, and the main character, who is white, is fighting black people. Umm… who the F cares?
There has been like 4,000 Resident Evil games. I’m GLAD the new one is in Africa. I’m tired of fighting these things in mansions and in cities. The last game took place in Spain. You spent the ENTIRE game killing Spaniards. What about other video game series? Why didn’t anyone cry when the main character, whose Black, in Grand Theft Auto blew away all those white enemies?
The only people who are going to bitch about this are the ones who don’t like video games, or know the story behind this series. It’s an obvious progression in the series’ story, but people don’t see that. They see a white person shooting black people. Don’t you think it’s a bit racist to see this trailer, and instead of seeing the game for what it is, misconstrue the whole idea in the first place? Some peoples’ kids.
If ANYTHING, it’s racist against zombies.

This is a link for an upcoming book that is due to release on October 30th. The book represents a year long project by Michael Franzini, where he traveled to all 50 states to find out what exactly it means to be a teenager in todays society. I’m only 25, and still couldn’t even imagine having access to a cell phone, myspace, or youtube when I was in school. I can’t imagine how their parents feel.
I browsed around the site, which offers up a few snippets of the book, and I was suprisingly intrigued by the whole thing. Michael didn’t just go out in search of one type of kid. He has captured the lives of the entire spectrum. Jocks, nerds, drug addicts… everybody. I read about a proud racist teenager who hates racial mixing that lives in a trailer, an 18 year old girl working as a prostitute, and a kid who is an internet celebrity due to his myspace. This book is going to be a must buy for me the day it comes out.
The Adventures of Matt Gondek, Freelance Artist III
Published by October 23rd, 2007 in Art, culture, street art, Community, Design, Artist, Bellevue and Creative Treehouse. 0 CommentsThis weekend I was invited to start a mural piece at “Your Mom’s” in Bellevue, which is near Pittsburgh. I am doing it w/ my pal Rob Larson, from Destroy/ Destroyer and it is going to look mind blowing crazy good. Here’s some pics of what I got done so far.
Your Moms is the store located directly underneath the Creative Treehouse, which is where alot of my art and music shenanigans take place. They are super cool people, so stop by and check the place out sometime.
Also, because I’m addicted to art, I banged out this shirt design last night for Fresh Clothing. Let me know what you think!
(p.s. Glorious)
Lastly.. if you’re ever in Southside Pittsburgh, stop by PackRat on Carson Street. They have a couple of my paintings for sale.
I always feel jelous of my friends. Walking around like they own the place, just because they have a crush on some celebrity. They have pictures of them on their comp’s wallpapers… posters in their rooms… it’s sickening. I don’t really watch TV, or care enough to know people’s real names in movies so I always felt left out. Why can’t I like someone I never met?
That all changed on Friday, when I found the website of Elizabeth Siegel. Her site, tofusquirrel.com, is an online portfolio of all her artwork and designs. The work she puts out is bright, colorful, and pretty much amazing. I looked further and seen she’s done work for some big names like M.C. Chris which is crazy awesome. Oh, plus she’s good looking too.
Here is the show poster she did for M.C. Chris. Check out her site too.
